Day 7 Reflection

Today was a day to sew something. I thought all day about what I was going to sew. In the midst of making Valentine's cards, taking walks, playing outside with my kids, hanging out with my mom and dad, and having a potluck with our friends I came up short of hours to spend sewing.

I have promised myself to follow through with each and every challenge, so I had to sew something today. Jason casually mentioned that I could hem his jeans, the ones that he has been asking me nicely to hem for the last 6 months, the ones that I've put off hemming for far too long. I decided it was the perfect project for today. I jokingly asked if I could make them skinny too, but that would be far too much for him.

Matty often makes fun of dad and his "fat" jeans, but I just got to say to him that he's lucky to have a mom that makes sure all of his jeans are skinny enough for him. I usually end up taking even his store bought skinny jeans in to make them just large enough to go over his feet, and almost too skinny to run in.

I try to always keep the original hem on pants (especially jeans), so I follow this method. Like I mentioned above, this was the perfect project, and perfect reminder to look for the creative in the ordinary. Today was perfectly ordinary, and I wouldn't have wanted it to be any other way.

Now, here's a finished sewing project from Hope, age 10 that makes up for where my creativity fell short on this one. I love this little bird!
