Moving Update

Do you ever ask yourself, "Why didn't I do this sooner?" That has been a reoccuring question lately. Why didn't we clean out the clutter sooner? Why didn't we put a floor down in the laundry room sooner (we've only been living on particle board for 5 years)?

Our moving containers left San Diego today. We are finishing up some house projects, and we will be driving away in a week. Over the course of the last few weeks, I have been reminded of some valuable lessons. I hope that once we are settled into DC, I will continue to live by these truths.

- Less is more (so, so, so much more). I don't regret selling one item, I do regret not doing it sooner. Don't get me wrong, there are things I don't want to part with that I really cherish. Overall, less stuff has really helped me clear my mind.

- Kids don't need a ton of crap either. We are down to a suitcase of books and games, and guess what, the kids don't miss anything (at least not yet).

- Don't take on too many projects at once. Did that, and it only ended in a half done house and unnecessary stress. Moving forward we will tackle what we can, hire out what we can't do in a reasonable time, and don't be too idealistic about the perfect space. A finished space is WAY better than the coolest finish.

We have secured a rental in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of DC, and we are thrilled that we are renting. We had a fantastic weekend that included one of the best weddings I've ever been to, and a fun going away party. Thanks friends for making us feel loved!
